The Parallel

It didn’t know how to fly.

A dry yellow leaf wandered across the aged bridge; how it got there, it didn’t know. Every time a car would pass by; the leaf would whoosh after it with a hint of a flight but then will fall back on the cold concrete.

He didn’t know how to swim.

A tired old man stood there on the callous sidewalk of the bridge; how he got there, he didn’t know. Every time a relationship would begin, he would throw himself into it with a heart full of sunrises but then will be thrown out on the dark ends of a rotten bridge.

A strong wind approached from the far corner and blew the leaf up in the air. Out of excitement, the leaf swirled and went across the railing.

A sudden gust of memory stormed his heart and left a sad space inside. Out of pain, he ran across the road and jumped over the barrier.
