Truthful Lies

When I was little, and everythingI heard was true
the adults said God painted the sky blue

to them,I was too inquisitive to be seven
so when granpa died, they said he’d journeyed to heaven

I’d go to jail if I ever stole
so i fervently asked for sweets in the toffee-bowl

my guardian angel cuddled me to sleep
and my soul was the Lord’s to keep

unbearable pain awaited me,if I played with fire
a warning that burnt my desire

no matter how he managed to look scary
Tom would never make meal of Jerry

everything would work according to God’s plan
so someday I’d grow to be a great man

I’d make some bad choices in my life
and someone’s daughter would be my wife

I’d also have people to call my children
and I’d tell the same stories told to me then

Now that I’m a grown person
and my doubts ought to worsen

I rather note the infinite indication
that, all I once heard has its vindication
