Half Past Success

The reason for my hurting
I’m not sure and neither certain

Everything I hoped for
Everything I groped for

Slipped right through my fingers
Drifted from reach and seldom lingers

When I was so sure
That my success was so pure

Failure makes faces at me
Brings weakness to each knee

I knew I put in all my pressure
But my pain never turned pleasure

So here I am, resigned to fate
For half past success o’clock is just too late
